Destihl Mix & Mingle

Lincoln Trail will be sponsoring a Mix & Mingle on Saturday, September 11th at Destihl Beer Hall 1200 Greenbriar Drive, Normal, IL at 5pm. This will be Destilhl’s Octoberfest celebration. Lyn Webber will host and provide some tables. Please bring chairs or blankets to sit on. This is the second year LTR has sponsored a Mix & Mingle at Octoberfest. We will set up in the same location in the parking lot as last year (northwest corner). You can purchase food, drinks and listen to music furnished by The Polkaholics. They will also have a new feature this year Axe Throwing but if you want to participate must have closed toe shoes.

Last year LTR had a good turn out even in the middle of COVID, no RSVP needed just show up and enjoy the Cars and Company.

Member Appreciation 2021

September 25th will be the Lincoln Trial Membership Appreciation Dinner at Davis Lodge Lake Bloomington.

Since we were unable to get together much in 2020 the Club is giving back and will provide a afternoon of camaraderie starting with a Mix & Mingle, followed by a drive and and close with a free dinner. For those who have never been to one of the Clubs events at Davis Lodge it is truly a scenic venue with beautiful log cabin overlooking the lake.  Mix & Mingle will start at 1PM snacks & beverages will be provided. Drive will start at 3:00PM and I have test drove the route and timed it to 1 hour and 15 minutes

Diner will be at 5PM. Baxter’s Bloomington will be providing a plated dinner. Menu: Baxter’s Salad, Filet with Cabernet Au Jus, Smothered Chicken, Oven Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans. Meal will have both entrees. If someone needs a vegetarian meal let me know in your RSVP.

So far I have 18 RSVP and if any of the first group need a vegetarian meal let me know.

This will be a RSVP event so we know how much food to order: RSVP to Jim Petruska at snjp928@aol.com later than September 17th. On the 18th I will turn in final count to Baxter’s

Look forward to seeing everyone at the event. this is our 58th year as a club.

Jim Petruska                                                                                                Vice President LTR

Newsletter History

Back in the day we had created, published, and mailed out a newsletter on a fairly regular monthly cadence. It was called the Potpourri until May 2008. After that it was called “Lincoln Trail News”. In 2006 we bought Adobe publishing software and began creating a color newsletter. There was a significant amount of work to collecting the articles and authoring the content. It was also very costly to print and mail hard copies so we went online only. We changed from a monthly newsletter to a quarterly newsletter in 2011. We stopped creating an official newsletter at the end of 2012. Now we use the blog on the home page as our primary mechanism to communicate with our members.

We do have some old newsletters in the bog section of this website. We have more dating back to about 2006 if anyone is interested.
